about us
About us
Nova planska praksa / New Planning Practice is a professional organization specializing in critical urban theory, urban planning research, policy analysis, and the improvement of contemporary planning practice. Our work is grounded in a critical understanding of urban development, governance systems, and the social and spatial consequences of planning decisions.
Our experts conduct in-depth, methodologically rigorous, and context-specific research informed by a unique combination of experience in the public sector, civil society, and academia.
This unique intersection allows us to generate knowledge, support civic and professional capacities, and foster more reflective and accountable planning cultures.
We advocate for planning that places the public interest at the forefront, protects and enhances the environment, approaches cultural and spatial heritage responsibly, and responds to the needs of citizens—firmly opposing the market valorization of urban land as the sole or dominant planning criterion.
New Planning Practice is composed of urban planners and critical urban theorists: Ljubica Slavković, Dr Ana Graovac, Dr Jasmina Đokić, and Ksenija Radovanović.
Founded in 2021, the organization builds on extensive professional practice in responsible planning roles, long-term engagement in civil-society initiatives, and academic work focused on public interest, environmental justice, planning systems, housing, informal construction, and democratic participation. Our work bridges practice, activism, and research to support more just, transparent, and sustainable urban development.
Our Work is Grounded in Three Spheres of Expertise
Public sector: deep knowledge of institutional procedures, planning documentation, public-policy instruments, and the constraints and opportunities of official planning practice.
Civil sector: experience in advocacy, community engagement, participatory processes, and strengthening the public’s role in shaping urban development.
Academia: research grounded in critical urban theory, evidence-based methodologies, and international disciplinary frameworks.
This integrated expertise allows Nova planska praksa / New Planning Practice to generate insights and methodologies uniquely positioned to benefit citizens, professionals, and the broader planning culture.
